Coaching Staff
Lars Nielsen, Head Volleyball Coach
Coach Lars Nielsen has been with the Volleyball program since its inception in 2007 and has steadily grown the program to be one recognized in the state. In 2011, Coach Nielsen led the Eagles to their best finish after being named District Champions and moving on to the Regional Tournament. His purpose in coaching includes “training athletes how to play volleyball, but also training young women how to grow in faith and patience.” This element is what drew him out of collegiate coaching and into the gym at Valor. Coach Nielsen was named League Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2011, and he looks to continue building a program of strength and character at Valor.

Season Summary

The 2011 Valor Volleyball team finished the 2011 season with a great deal of success. The team finished undefeated in the Jeffco Conference, a perfect 10-0, and had a regular season record of 15-4, losing only to top 5A teams (Regis, Monarch, Pine Creek and Legend). Valor also went undefeated in Districts, taking the District Title with wins over constant State Tournament participants, Silver Creek and Sterling. Valor finished the year with a 19-7 record and the most wins in Valor Volleyball history as well as the most wins by any Jeffco team since 2005.

Valor will greatly miss the three seniors that graduate this year: Teagan Fast, Whitney Walker and Kaylee Pierce as they prepare for the 2012 season and what it holds in store. Having won districts and having a difficult regional schedule, Valor is preparing even now for the 2012 season and the push to take Valor Christian to the Denver Coliseum for the State Finals.
