Baseball
Keith Wahl, Head Baseball Coach
Coach Keith Wahl has served as the head coach in the Valor Baseball program since its inception in 2007. Under his leadership, the program has experienced growth steadily and in 2010 made their first significant run in the post-season, making it to the final day of play in the 4A State Tournament. Coach Wahl serves the baseball community in many fashions, including serving on the Colorado Dugout Club Advisory Board and has twice received Coach of the Year awards for his work in the sport. When Coach Wahl was asked about the purpose in his coaching, he said he strives “to honor and emulate Jesus in building disciples and a community through the sport of baseball.”

Basketball, Boys
Steve Rotello, Head Boys Basketball Coach
Coach Steve Rotello joined the Valor Boys Basketball program in 2010 and has helped develop a top level program in 4A. Since becoming an Eagle, Steve has helped the team secure league championships in both 2010 and 2011. In 2011, the Eagles had their best finish to date, where they won their way into the 4A State “Elite Eight” game with an overall record of 22-4. In 2011, Coach Rotello was also named Jeffco League Coach of the Year. He has seen 17 athletes go on to play at the next level, including one who continued into the NBA. When asked about his purpose in coaching at Valor, Coach Rotello said, “It is my intent to run a basketball program to help transform tomorrow's leaders for Christ and to support the goal of making Valor one of the best high schools in the nation.”

Basketball, Girls
Sherryl Klosterman, Head Girls Basketball Coach
Coach Sherryl Klosterman joined the Valor coaching staff in 2009 where she has led the Lady Eagles Girls Basketball squad both as an assistant and now as the head coach. After a successful collegiate career in Illinois, Sherryl brought her knowledge to Colorado and has coached at the high school level for more than two decades. In 2010, she helped guide the team to a 6th place finish in league and an overall record of 11-12. Coach K says, “More important than our wins and losses are the lessons and life experiences our players will take with them from basketball. I am genuinely interested in getting to know each player so that I can motivate and challenge each one of them to reach their full potential, not only as a basketball player, but as the person God desires them to be.” Sherryl has seen 46 of her athletes go on to play at the collegiate level and 2 professionally. She looks forward to seeing some Lady Eagles go on to the next level as well.

Cheer
Kallyn Connor, Head Cheer Coach
Coach Kallyn Connor joined the Valor Cheer program in 2010, where she has taken the program to a new level in such a short amount of time. In 2010, her first year with the program, the team earned the honor of 4A State Runner-Up, as well as represented Valor at the National competition where they placed in the top 20. Prior to coaching at Valor, Kallyn coached at Regis Jesuit and her alma mater, Arapahoe. Coach Connor has high expectations for her athletes, requiring respect for coaches and teammates to be top on the list. “We are strong believers in the theory that you get out what you put in”, a mantra which has not only helped develop more responsible young women, but has also helped push the squad to rise to the next level.

Cross Country
Tom Rand, Head Cross Country Coach
Coach Tom Rand began coaching Cross Country at Valor in 2008 and has developed the program into a state qualifying team, with their first team state meet appearance in 2010 and three individual athletes qualifying in 2011. Coach Rand has also used his love for endurance activities to raise money for Food for the Hungry through cross country bicycle trips. He “longs to see each runner on the team grow to love the sport of running and to maximize their ability as a runner as they learn what it means to be committed and faithful to the sport.”

Football
Brent Vieselmeyer, Head Football Coach
Coach Brent Vieselmeyer began the Valor Football program in 2007 and quickly developed it into a strong program. In just four short years at the Varsity level, Coach Vieselmeyer has led the team to victory in three State Championships (2009, 2010 and 2011) and has sent over 30 players on to play at a Division I Collegiate Football program. While experiencing great worldly success, Coach Vies never loses sight of the real victories fought not on the field but in the hearts of the young men he coaches. “I cherish the opportunity to develop relationships with coaches, parents and especially the players. It is an incredible honor to be part of the Valor family and to help young men direct their lives to Christ,” says Coach Vieselmeyer.

Golf, Boys
Jason Preeo, Head Boys Golf Coach
Coach Jason Preeo joined the Valor coaching staff in 2009 as the Head Coach for the Boys Golf program. Since taking the helm, Coach Preeo has helped lead the team to two State Championships (2009 and 2010) and a State Runner-Up finish (2011). Along with his success teaching the sport, Coach Preeo is also a daunting opponent on the course himself. In 2010, he had the privilege of competing in the US Open at Pebble Beach. When asked why he coaches at Valor, Coach Preeo said, “Valor offers a unique coaching opportunity in that, not only does it offer an unparalleled education combined with the pursuit of excellence in all endeavors, but most importantly it uses this platform to glorify Christ.”

Golf, Girls
Scotty Hofer, Head Girls Golf Coach
Coach Scotty Hofer joins the Girls Golf program in 2012 and has been with the Boys program since 2009. Coach Hofer also served as an assistant coach in the Girls Golf program in 2011, where the Eagles finished 4th in 4A. He looks to build on this success and develop the program to be consistently ranked high in the state. When asked about his purpose in coaching, Coach Hofer said it is “to help young men and women grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ as they strive for excellence in the sport of golf.” He desires that each one of his athletes display attitudes and actions that bring glory to God no matter the outcome of their performance on the course.

Ice Hockey
Mike Pasquarella, Head Ice Hockey Coach
Coach Mike Pasquarella joined the Eagle Ice Hockey program in 2011 and is looking forward to building a strong program, as well as athletes who grow and mature as individuals. Prior to coming to Valor, Coach Pasquarella led the Johnson and Wales University program for 5 years and more recently coached a number of youth and high school hockey players. Coach P desires to “use my past experiences to assist Valor in our Vision to prepare tomorrow's leaders to transform the world for Christ.” He also values the relationships he has built with his athletes over the years, “It gives me great pride to know that God has chosen me to work in the lives on my players, and that I have accepted and embraced this special responsibility from the Lord.”

Lacrosse, Boys
Dan Buttolph, Head Boys Lacrosse Coach
Coach Dan Buttolph took over as head coach of the Boys Lacrosse program in 2011 after serving as an assistant coach in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, Coach Buttolph led the team to its first post-season appearance in program history. After coaching high school lacrosse at other high schools, Coach Buttolph says it is “his desire to use the sport of lacrosse to make a positive impact on the lives of the players on the team and those in our community” that drew him to Valor and has allowed him the freedom to coach young men in more than just the sport of Lacrosse.

Lacrosse, Girls
Karin Hart, Head Girls Lacrosse Coach
Coach Karin Hart joins the Valor Girls Lacrosse program for her first year in 2011. Coach Hart has a strong background in lacrosse due to her experience playing collegiately at the University of Denver. She looks forward to taking that experience to develop a strong program at Valor. Coach Hart has spent the past 6 years developing her coaching skills at many youth camps and clinics in Colorado, including the DU Summer Lacrosse Camp. When Karin was asked what her biggest accomplishment has been, she stated it was “beating the cancer I was faced with in 2009. As of May 2011, I am proud to be cancer free!” Coach Hart will bring her knowledge of the game and understanding of the struggles of life to help develop not only a strong lacrosse program but also strong young women.

Poms
April Hamner, Head Poms Coach
Coach April Hamner has led the Valor Poms Squad since 2009, where she has helped grow and develop the program into a state-placing team. In 2010, the Eagles finished 8th at the 4A State Competition. Outside of Valor Poms, Coach Hamner has worked with multiple high school and college teams, choreographing their routines. With 23 years of experience in the world of dance, April brings a great deal of knowledge and understanding of what it takes to get to the next level. In her short time at Valor, April has helped lead the Eagles in earning 6 All-American athletes. About coaching at Valor, Coach Hamner says, “It’s been an even better experience then I would have hoped for. To have the opportunity to talk openly about the one thing that is the center of who we are has been life changing for both me and the girls who are involved in the program.”

Soccer, Boys
Brian Shultz, Head Boys Soccer Coach
Coach Brian Shultz joined the Boys Soccer coaching staff in 2009 and the Girls Soccer staff in 2011. Coach Shultz has helped develop the Boys Soccer program into one that has qualified for the playoffs in 2010 and 2011, and helped lead the Girls Soccer program to a State Championship in 2011. Coming from 16 years of coaching experience in the high school and club ranks, Coach Shultz brings a great deal of knowledge and expertise to the field. When Coach Shultz was asked why he coaches, his response was, “I deeply love my family and prayerfully come to lead Valor Soccer, hoping to point more young men and women to Christ along the way.”

Soccer, Girls
Brian Shultz, Girls Soccer Co-Head Coach
Coach Brian Shultz joined the Boys Soccer coaching staff in 2009 and the Girls Soccer staff in 2011. Coach Shultz has helped develop the Boys Soccer program into one that has qualified for the playoffs in 2010 and 2011, and helped lead the Girls Soccer program to a State Championship in 2011. Coming from 16 years of coaching experience in the high school and club ranks, Coach Shultz brings a great deal of knowledge and expertise to the field. When Coach Shultz was asked why he coaches, his response was, “I deeply love my family and prayerfully come to lead Valor Soccer, hoping to point more young men and women to Christ along the way.”

Softball
Stephanie Gillett, Head Softball Coach
Coach Stephanie Gillett has been with the Softball program at Valor since the beginning in 2008. In the short history of the program, we have seen continued growth in both size and skill. Coach Gillett has seen 6 of her athletes receive 1st Team All-League honors and one receive an All-State Honorable Mention nod. When asked about her purpose in coaching, Coach Gillett says it’s “the desire to see her athletes grow not only in their skill on the field but also in their character and relationship with Christ, as well as to see young women grow into strong leaders that pursue their dreams.”

Swimming & Diving, Girls
Rob Nasser, Head Girls Swimming and Diving Coach
Coach Rob Nasser’s Valor career began the same year as the Valor Swimming program in 2007. He is no stranger to the sport of swimming, having grown up in the pool and swimming at the University of Denver during his college career. He continues to compete with the United States Master’s Swimming program to this day. Coach Nasser has helped develop a strong swim program at Valor, leading many young women to the 4A State Meet in his short career. When asked what he purposes to do in the area of swimming at Valor, Coach Nasser says, “it is to install a program that holds all 3 pillars (Faith, Academics and Athletics) at paramount value, not just in word but in actions, all while glorifying God in the highest!

Tennis, Boys
Bill Epping, Head Boys Tennis Coach
Coach Bill Epping has been with the Valor Boys and Girls Tennis programs since they began in 2008-2009. In these short four years, Coach Epping has seen both programs grow tremendously. On the boys’ side, the most successful season to date was 2011, where the Eagles went undefeated in the 4A Jeffco League (8-0). During this time, Coach Epping has seen 9 of his athletes qualify for the 4A State Tournament. His primary purpose in coaching at Valor is “to engage these young men and women in athletics and to help them continue to grow in their Christian faith.” Prior to Valor, Coach Epping helped lead the Castle Rock youth tennis program for 8 years and has had the opportunity to help develop many young tennis players.

Tennis, Girls
Bill Epping, Head Girls Tennis Coach
Coach Bill Epping has been with the Valor Boys and Girls Tennis programs since they began in 2008-2009. In these short four years, Coach Epping has seen both programs grow tremendously. Track & Field
Brian Kula, Head Track & Field Coach
Brian Kula – Track and Field Coach Brian Kula took over at the helm of the Valor Track and Field program in the spring of 2010. He brought his knowledge and experience in coaching the sport to Valor and has helped develop a strong program for the Eagles. In his short time at Valor, he has developed numerous athletes to the point of qualifying and competing at the 4A State Meet. In his coaching career he has also earned Coach of the Year honors from both the state of Colorado (2009) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (2010). However, it is his desire to “influence and mentor young adults and train them to achieve excellence in the sport of track and field” that keeps him on the track year after year.

Volleyball
Lars Nielsen, Head Volleyball Coach
Coach Lars Nielsen has been with the Volleyball program since its inception in 2007 and has steadily grown the program to be one recognized in the state. In 2011, Coach Nielsen led the Eagles to their best finish after being named District Champions and moving on to the Regional Tournament. His purpose in coaching includes “training athletes how to play volleyball, but also training young women how to grow in faith and patience.” This element is what drew him out of collegiate coaching and into the gym at Valor. Coach Nielsen was named League Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2011, and he looks to continue building a program of strength and character at Valor.

Wrestling
Tim Welch, Head Wrestling Coach
Coach Tim Welch has been with the Valor Wrestling program as the head coach since its inception in 2007. In that time, Coach Welch has seen the program grow in both size as well as skill. Last season, Coach Welch and the Eagles qualified five wrestlers in the 4A State Tournament and saw the program’s highest finish in their short history. In addition to coaching high school athletes, Coach Welch continues to spend time building the youth wrestling program, where he has spent more than two decades developing young wrestlers. When asked about his purpose in coaching, Coach Welch says he wants to “Use the sport of wrestling to instill all the disciplines the sport has to offer while developing godly men.” Even amidst seeing his wrestlers succeed over the past two decades (including 9 State Finalists), Coach Welch’s heart is for these young men to grow in character as well as skill.
