His primary purpose in coaching at Valor is “to engage these young men and women in athletics and to help them continue to grow in their Christian faith.” Prior to Valor, Coach Epping helped lead the Castle Rock youth tennis program for 8 years and has had the opportunity to help develop many young tennis players.

Girls Tennis Sends 6 to State Tournament

May 16, 2012

Last week the girls wrapped up the 2012 tennis season with their first trip to the state tournament. The team motto was “Honoring God in all we do” and they certainly did just that with a fantastic effort on Thursday and Friday. In the opening round, Alex Middleton, Brooke Williams, and the doubles team of Kaylee Pott/Annie Hertel all posted straight set wins while the doubles team of Faith Mason and Kathryn Armstrong fell to eventual champion Cheyenne Mountain. In the round of 8, the girls all fought extremely hard but came up short in their 3 matches. On Friday, Faith/Kathryn were able to secure a playback and had an exciting win over Colorado Academy before falling to Develyn in the next round. All four spots walked away with a win at state which is a great accomplishment. It was a learning experience and one that will help them next year. The girls finished the season 7-1 in conference, placed 2nd at the Centaurus tournament and also 2nd at the Greeley regionals. A fantastic year for a great group of young ladies.
