Brian Kula, Head Track & Field Coach
Brian Kula – Track and Field Coach Brian Kula took over at the helm of the Valor Track and Field program in the spring of 2010. He brought his knowledge and experience in coaching the sport to Valor and has helped develop a strong program for the Eagles. In his short time at Valor, he has developed numerous athletes to the point of qualifying and competing at the 4A State Meet. In his coaching career he has also earned Coach of the Year honors from both the state of Colorado (2009) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (2010). However, it is his desire to “influence and mentor young adults and train them to achieve excellence in the sport of track and field” that keeps him on the track year after year.

Track and Field Shows Well at St. Vrain Invite

May 09, 2012

This week, the Eagles attended what many of the team members call their favorite meet, the St. Vrain Invitational in Longmont. The competition was quite fierce coming into the last meet before league, but the Eagles experienced a good deal of success in preparation for the coming final two weeks of the season. For the girls, Marybeth Sant won the 100-meter dash setting a new meet, school and personal record that ranks her in the top 10 nationally. She also finished second in the 200-meter dash setting a new school and personal record. Janine Beckie competed in both of the hurdle events setting a new personal, meet, school and stadium record in the 300-meter and was the runner-up in the 100-meter. McKenzie Miller and Laura Wild each set new personal bests competing against one another in the 400-meter dash. Taylor Speiker set a new personal best and school record in the 1600-meter run. Multiple other personal bests were set in this meet as well for the girls. On the boy's side, the 4X100 relay team of Braxton Peats, Bubba Watkins, Stephen Miller and Christian McCaffrey won the race setting a new school and season record, ranking them at the top of the state. Stanley Gilbert threw a new personal best in the shot put. In the 1600-meter, Mitch Bryan ran a new personal best as well.

The Eagles will head into the Jeffco 4A League competition this week hoping to pick up both a boy’s and girl’s championship before the state competition.
