Head Girls Basketball Coach: Sherryl Klosterman
Coaching Staff
Sherryl Klosterman, Head Girls Basketball Coach
Coach Sherryl Klosterman joined the Valor coaching staff in 2009 where she has led the Lady Eagles Girls Basketball squad both as an assistant and now as the head coach. After a successful collegiate career in Illinois, Sherryl brought her knowledge to Colorado and has coached at the high school level for more than two decades. In 2010, she helped guide the team to a 6th place finish in league and an overall record of 11-12. Coach K says, “More important than our wins and losses are the lessons and life experiences our players will take with them from basketball. I am genuinely interested in getting to know each player so that I can motivate and challenge each one of them to reach their full potential, not only as a basketball player, but as the person God desires them to be.” Sherryl has seen 46 of her athletes go on to play at the collegiate level and 2 professionally. She looks forward to seeing some Lady Eagles go on to the next level as well.

2011-2012 Season Comes to a Close

March 13, 2012

The Eagles finished a successful season for Valor Girls Basketball. A talented and more experienced squad took the court this season and set new standards for our Girls Basketball program. Valor finished the season with a 19-5 record, 17 wins in a row, a Jeffco League 9-1 record and runner-up finish in league. The team also was ranked as high as 5th in the State 4A Top Ten. This was the first top ten ranking in school history. The 2011-2012 team was defined by our pressure defense and balance in our offensive attack. Six Eagles scored over 100 points with three of them scoring over 200 points for the season (Caroline Bryan 278, Kendall Bradbury 219 and Meg Gegen 206). Valor also had two players pull down over 100 rebounds (Caroline Bryan 146 and Kendall Bradbury 125). Highlights this season included winning the Championship of the Mountain Classic Tournament in December. Thrilling victories came against Roosevelt (top 10 ranked), 5A Castle View, Wheat Ridge and Green Mountain along with a hard fought two-point league championship game at D’Evelyn to close out the regular season that ended in a loss. Valor defeated Palmer Ridge in the first round of the 2012 State Tournament, giving Valor Girls Basketball it’s first State Tournament win in school history. The 2011-2012 team set 16 new school records including most points scored in a season with 1326; the highest scoring average 55.3 points per game; steals in a game with 32 against Arvada and a team free throw percentage of 65%. Several Eagles finished in the top 10 in the Jeffco League in some statistical categories: Caroline Bryan 8th in scoring; Kara Foley 9th in blocked shots; Caroline Bryan 6th in rebounding; Janine Beckie 2nd in steals and Caroline Bryan 8th in steals; Meg Gegen 7th in assists and Janine Beckie 10th in assists; Kendall Bradbury 3rd in charges drawn and Meg Gegen 5th in free throw percentage. Congrats on a memorable and great season ladies!
