2011-2012 Season Wrap-up

March 13, 2012

"Believe and Finish" turned out to be an appropriate theme for the Eagles 2011-12 season. Setting high expectations resulted in achieving an important building year for Valor Christian Hockey. This was only possible with distributed leadership and performance throughout the season.

The 11-7-1 Eagles achieved a playoff berth not only with strong senior leadership, but also with very significant contributions from rising underclassmen. In fact, seven of the top ten scorers and six of the top seven defensemen will be returning next season, along with three goalies that have notable talent.

Amidst strong senior leadership, the ups and downs of a tough season were weathered beginning with senior co-captains, Cam Hardison and MVP Mason Lopez. In addition, senior goalie and four year varsity contributor Jared Tracy anchored a talented but young and developing group of net minders.

Fellow four year contributor and senior, Garrett Clay, intensified his level of play down the stretch, earning both his team a playoff berth and himself the Perseverance Award. In a fitting capstone to his fellow seniors' contributions, Brian Eich earned the prestigious Colorado High School Hobey Baker Character Award.

In the end, we owe this year's success and memories to our willingness to turn over our challenges, weaknesses and questions to Christ. He rewarded us with His mercy and gifts that resulted in the team's ability to grow, improve and compete at the highest level.
